Full Garden Design
Initial Consultation
In our first meeting, we'll review your garden and discuss your goals and style preferences. Please share any images of gardens or planting styles you like. I'll present my portfolio and explain the design process, ensuring you understand the stages involved. Following this, I will provide a design brief and quotation. Costs depend on the complexity and size of the garden; smaller gardens can be just as intricate as larger ones.
You will receive a Contract and my Terms and Conditions along with a payment schedule and ‘sign-off’ points for the Design stages.
Site Survey
Next, I will take detailed measurements of your site, record existing plants, collect soil samples for testing, and analyse significant environmental factors. For complex sites, I can arrange for an external surveyor to assist. This information forms the base plan for your garden design.
Concept Design
The most visual and collaborative stage of the design. Image boards illustrate the style and elements proposed for your design. Often a number of slightly different Concept Plans are proposed giving you the final choice. CAD generated drawings and models give you the vision for your garden. Material samples help you to choose the finish.
Your feedback from the concept designs is used to produce the final garden design drawings.
For clients on a tight budget the Concept Design and Image boards can provide all you need for inspiration to take your garden forward and the process can stop here.
Master Plans
Once the Concept Plan is officially approved, a comprehensive and detailed Master Plan is developed, complete with all the necessary construction details. This enables a skilled Landscaper to provide an accurate quote for the build. The Master Plan can include setting out plans, elevations, materials specifications, and lighting plans, ensuring every aspect of the design is precisely addressed.
Planting Plans
The softer part of the landscaping encompasses more than just a few plants. It includes thoughtfully curated plant palettes, detailed layout plans for each distinct area, and seasonal interest charts that beautifully highlight when different plants will be at their most captivating and visually appealing. Additionally, I provide comprehensive schedules of quantities and sizes to ensure every aspect is planned meticulously and estimate for the materials and planting work.
Build
I have relationships with several Landscapers who have built my designs that I would be pleased to recommend. Project Monitoring can help to ensure that the Garden is built to the design and any issues arising along the way can be resolved without compromising the vision. This includes a schedule of site visits and availability for answering any queries that crop up.
Aftercare
Proper garden maintenance is key to realising your garden design's potential. Detailed maintenance plans help keep plants thriving, or you can rely on trusted local gardeners for optimal care. I enjoy offering periodic 'walkaround' reviews to answer your questions and suggest solutions for any issues.
